- Combine the sugar and water in a small saucepan and heat over medium, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely to make a simple syrup. Allow to cool to room temperature.
- Using a microplane or zester, carefully zest the citrus fruit, taking care not to include the bitter pith. Then, cut the fruit in half and juice it into a bowl, removing any seeds.
- Add the citrus zest, juice, chopped herbs, and cooled simple syrup to a blender. Pour in the vodka and measure out the ice cubes.
- Blend on high until the mixture is slushy, with a fine, granular texture and all ingredients well combined. If necessary, stop and scrape down the sides to ensure an even blend.
- Pour the slushie into chilled glasses. Serve immediately to enjoy the icy, refreshing texture and vibrant flavors.
Notes
Adjust the amount of ice to control the texture; more ice makes it icier, less results in a smoother slush. Garnish with extra herbs or citrus slices for presentation.
