Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk chilled
  • 2 tablespoons sugar optional, for sweetness
  • 1 cup ice cubes crushed or whole for blending
  • 1/2 cup fresh berries or fruit optional, for flavor and visual appeal
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional, enhances flavor

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Add the chilled milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and fresh berries to the blender.
1 cup milk, 2 tablespoons sugar, 1/2 cup fresh berries or fruit, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  2. Pulse or blend on low speed to combine the ingredients until the sugar dissolves and the berries are slightly broken down, about 10-15 seconds.
  3. Add the ice cubes to the blender and start blending on high speed.
    1 cup ice cubes
  4. Blend until the mixture is thick, frosty, and smooth, about 30-40 seconds. You should see a slushy texture forming, with the ice breaking down into tiny, crunchy bits.
  5. Check the consistency—if it’s too runny, add a few more ice cubes and blend again for a few seconds.
  6. Once the mixture is icy and scoopable, transfer the slushie into glasses or a chilled container.
  7. Serve immediately with a straw or spoon to enjoy its crunchy, frozen texture.
